ink and paper fun.

I made my own handmade book following the intructions on this website. It was a success, sort of. The cover is too dull haha. I was too excited about sewing the pages together that I didn't think of how I wanted the cover to look. The book itself is ok, though. It's light and easy to bring around. And it opens flat so it's easy to write in.
I've also borrowed my friend's copy of Creating Handmade Books and there are a lot of interesting projects in there. Lots of tips and ideas from the Purple Ink egroup as well. I especially enjoyed browsing through Karen Winter's art journal. It gave me a few ideas for stuff to do in the future...
One thing I gotta learn, though: I should stop being afraid of actually sketching in my journal and making mistakes. I notice that a lot of my better drawings are the ones that I start off as doodles on the back of scripts, old envelopes, and scraps of paper.
